為了提高英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作能力，我們根據(jù)全國(guó)統(tǒng)一制定的《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)基本要求（試行）》、《高等學(xué)校英語(yǔ)專業(yè)基礎(chǔ)階段英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》和《非英語(yǔ)專業(yè)研究生英語(yǔ)教學(xué)大綱》對(duì)寫(xiě)作能力的教學(xué)要求，把學(xué)生英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作中實(shí)際存在的問(wèn)題，按照內(nèi)容、結(jié)構(gòu)、語(yǔ)言應(yīng)用、詞匯和技術(shù)細(xì)節(jié)等五個(gè)方面，分成三十二個(gè)專題，選出有代表性的作文作為案例，用恰當(dāng)?shù)奶崾疽龑?dǎo)學(xué)生對(duì)相關(guān)問(wèn)題進(jìn)行分析、研究和討論，再用直觀性的分析材料對(duì)學(xué)生的討論加以總結(jié)和升華，使學(xué)習(xí)者對(duì)文章結(jié)構(gòu)和存在問(wèn)題一目了然。每個(gè)案例根據(jù)確立的專題設(shè)有專項(xiàng)練習(xí)，供學(xué)習(xí)者進(jìn)行比較研究，提高專項(xiàng)寫(xiě)作技能。
根據(jù)多年的英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作教學(xué)經(jīng)驗(yàn)，我們發(fā)現(xiàn)案例教學(xué)法可以加快學(xué)生對(duì)于英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作方法的領(lǐng)悟，更有效地增強(qiáng)他們英語(yǔ)寫(xiě)作的悟性。因此本書(shū)按照案例教學(xué)法編寫(xiě)，旨在建立師生互動(dòng)型的課程，把課堂討論納入教學(xué)，利用“旁觀者清”的道理，引導(dǎo)學(xué)生通過(guò)比較研究他人作品來(lái)培養(yǎng)自己鑒別英語(yǔ)作文的能力，從而結(jié)束寫(xiě)作者“當(dāng)事者迷”的狀態(tài)。
